Coronavirus News highlights: Italian study shows COVID-19 infections, deaths plummeting after jabs



Coronavirus India News highlights: People who have recovered from COVID-19 in the last 24 hours have outnumbered the daily cases. According to the data shared by the Union Health Ministry, 3,44,776 people were discharged from the hospital in the last 24 hours, thus taking the total number of recoveries to 2,00,79,599. The recovery rate rises to 83.50 percent. Also, the new COVID-19 cases in India are lower than the last two days. The country has reported 3,43,144 new cases in a single day. The total tally rose to 2,40,46,809, the data updated at 8 am on Friday showed. The positivity rate is below 20 percent for the fourth straight day. It is at 18.30 percent against 19.45 percent, a day before. The active cases witnessed a fall after seeing a rise yesterday. It’s down by 5,632, taking the total number of active cases to 37,04,893, the data showed. The death toll rose to 2,62,317 with 4,000 fatalities in the last 24 hours, the ministry said. The mortality rate remains at 1.09 percent for the tenth straight day.
