Udupi, Apr 13: A construction worker lost his life after a house wall that was being demolished fell on him. The incident happened at Brahmavar here on the morning of Tuesday, April 13.
Umesh (25) resident of Koppala district, his uncle Hanumantha and others are employed under chief mason, Matpadi resident Narasimha Nayak.
Narasimha Nayak had sent Hanumantha to demolish the house wall of Ganapathi in Chantaru village, Chetan Nagar on April 13. The wall collapsed while the work was in progress at about 9:15 am and fell on Hanumantha severely injuring his body, hands and head. As he had trouble breathing, he was rushed to Pranav Hospital in Brahmavar and later shifted to Brahmavar government hospital at about 10:11 am. The doctors at the government hospital pronounced him dead.
Umesh lodged a police complaint against Narasimha Nayak and house owner Ganapathi on charges of getting the work conducted without any precautions and safety measures. A case under registration no. 54/2021 under IPC Sections 288 and 304 (A) is registered in the Brahmavar police station in this connection.
