Voestalpine and Vossloh bid for supply of turnouts and scissor crossovers for Patna Metro

Patna, India (Urban Transport News): The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (DMRC) on April 16, 2021, opened technical bids of contract called for the supply of UIC-60 turnouts and scissor crossovers for 30.91 km Phase 1 of the Patna Metro Rail Project.

According to DMRC, only two bidders viz. Voestalpine VAE VKN India Pvt. Ltd. and Vossloh Cogifer S.A. have submitted their bids for the contract package PT-4.

Tender for this contract package was invited in January 2021 with an estimated value of Rs 19.82 crores. The scope of work includes design, manufacturing & supply of UIC-60 Turnouts & Scissor Crossover for the Patna Metro Rail Project. The winner will have to supply these track-related items in 24 months from the date of issuance of PO.

As per our knowledge, this the third track-related packages of the Patna Metro Rail project invited by DMRC. For Package PT-7, Jindal Steel & Power Limited (JSPL) is the only bidder to manufacture and supply the 1200 MT 90 UTS, UIC 60, 13 m, Class A 880 Grade Rails, IRS-T-12-2009 for New ISBT Patna Depot.

For Package PT-8, a total of five bidders viz. KEC International, Apurvakriti Infrastructure, S.C. Agarwal, Railtech Infraventure and Shivakriti International have submitted their bids for Supply, Installation, Testing & commissioning of standard gauge trackwork (Ballasted, Embedded and Column lines) at New ISBT Depot of Patna Metro Rail Project.

The turnouts and crossovers will be used for guiding Rolling Stock from one track line to another. These items might be placed at the terminal and interchanges stations of New ISBT, Khemni Chak, Patna Railway Station and Danapur Cantonment.

The Japanese agency, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) is likely to fund Phase 1 of the Patna Metro Rail project.
