The Main Purpose Of Intelligent Machines Is To Increase Efficiency, Productivity And Safety Of Construction Equipment On Worksites While At The Same Time Reducing The Machine´S Negative Environmental Impact. Volvo Construction Equipment Every Year Invests Large Sums In Telematics And Electromobility With The Ambition To Develop Intelligent Machine Partners For Operators. The New Technology Is Fundamentally Changing The Way Humans Are Working Together With The Machines.

Volvo´S Innovative Co-Pilot System With Services Such As Dig Assist And Load Assist Is A Good Example. Volvo Co-Pilot Puts The Operator At The Heart Of The System And It Is A Step Towards An Integrated, Holistic Solution For Worksite Optimisation. With Its Intelligent Assist-Functionalities, The System Allows Our Customers To Work More Efficiently And Safer Than Ever Before. The System Collects Large Amount Of Data That Helps The Machine To Draw Its Own Conclusions And To Take Decision On The Most Efficient Action In Every Given Situation. However, Human Interaction Is Still Needed In Order To Optimize The Utilization Of The Machine.

In Sweden, Volvo CE Has Recently Finalized A Unique Electric Quarry Site Project That Has Taken The New Technology One Step Further. In Cooperation With Our Swedish Customer Skanska, We Have Truly Turned The Quarrying Industry Upside Down In A Groundbreaking Study To Create A Highly Efficient Worksite And The World’s First ‘Emission-Free’ Quarry.

Using The Automation, Electrification And Connectivity Expertise Of The Volvo Group, The 10 Weeks Research Project Was Aimed To Electrify Each Transport Stage In A Quarry – And The Results Were Amazing! The Tests Showed A 98% Reduction In Carbon Emissions, A 70% Reduction In Energy Cost And A 40% Reduction In Operator Cost. This Concept Is Still Not Ready To Be Commercialized, But The Project Results Gives A Clear Indication On What We Can Achieve With The New Technology.

Automation, Electrification And Connectivity Is The Future In The Construction Equipment Industry – And It Is Approaching Fast. We At Volvo Are Extremely Excited To Be In The Forefront Of This Development. We Will Continue To Develop And Launch Intelligent Products That Optimizes Efficiency And Safety, And Reduces The Environmental Impact For The Benefit Of Both Customers And Society At Large.
